Phil-4_12-The-Secret-of-Contentment-Final

Sometimes it is hard work to be content and we sometimes just put on the mask of contentment for others.

The Bible clearly teaches us to “be content” no matter what our circumstances are.

In Philippians 4:11Paul said, “I have learned in whatsoever state I am in therewith to be content.”

In the Amplified Bible being content is “satisfied to the point where you are not disturbed or disquieted”.

It doesn’t say satisfied to the point where you don’t want change, but satisfied for now until God brings the change.

Philippians 4:6-7 says,  Have no anxiety about anything, but in all things by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, continue to let God know what you want, then the peace that passes understanding shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

So in simpler words. Don’t be upset about anything, no matter what is happening. Pray about it, and tell God your need. While you are waiting for God to move, be a very thankful and grateful person for all that God has done for you ALREADY!

If  God never did one thing for us except write our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life, that alone is more than enough….But, When we are anxious or depressed we overlook that amazing gift we have in Him!

Being thankful from the heart is necessary for the receiving of God’s continued favor in our lives. As the scripture says above:

Have no anxiety or care  tell God your need, and be thankful then you will have tremendous peace and contentment no matter what state you are in while you are waiting for God to work out His will in your life.  Sounds easy right??????

Let me say that trusting in God is hiding yourself in the secret place, in His presence.  He is a good God who only does good things, be content knowing that His way is perfect.

Being happy or content doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

Your  world doesn’t change all that much if we have more money, a bigger house , a better job or a nicer car. The wrapping paper might be different, but the gift inside stays the same.

The way I feel about myself, how much I open myself to new people and experiences, how often I choose to smile simply because it feels good—none of these things really depend on my life situation.

Enjoying the present moment is a habit that takes  great practice.

If you always look toward tomorrow for happiness, odds are you will do the same when you attain what you’ve been dreaming of. As strange it sounds, the ability to appreciate what’s in front of you has nothing to do with what you actually have. It’s more about how you measure the good things in your life at any given time.

Practice wanting what you have and it will feel even sweeter when you eventually have what you want.

Look around, what’s in front of you that can enjoy?

Finding reasons to be happy now can benefit your future.

Tuning into joy can improve your health, something that affords you many possibilities in life, something that most people take for granted until it’s compromised.

I used to be obsessed with being perfect because the people that were around me always demanded it. If I wasn’t the best at something, I couldn’t sleep at night. Becoming great  at something never felt as good as I imagined it would because there was always room to be better. I was constantly dissatisfied and disappointed in myself.

I now look at the things I do as opportunities to get better from one day to the next. It’s more satisfying to set and meet an attainable goal with excellence,  than it is to obsess about perfection.

By focusing on small improvements and mini-goals, you’ll naturally move yourself toward your larger dreams. And you’ll respect the way you’re doing things. Choose to be happy now and you’ll have more days of good health to enjoy.

You can be who you want to be right now, no matter what your situation looks like.

You may think life needs to change dramatically for you to be the person you want to be. That you can’t be giving unless you make more money. Or you can’t be adventurous and travel the truth is, you can be those things at any point in time. I Have always loved travel and want to travel the world or even live aboard. I have made the decision along with my Husband to travel somewhere new every year wether it is here in the USA or overseas. You have to make a conscious decision to work towards your goals and set it  in motion by doing little things everyday, little sacrifices today that will make your dreams come true tomorrow.

Even when you don’t have enough money to share, you can be  generous with your compassion, and listen when your friends have problems. So your house has lost value and you can’t sell it yet,  you can always create adventure in your day by trying new things and introducing yourself to new people.

Always look for ways to grow and be content in the area you are in right now before you get to the place you imagine.

You never know when your nows will run out, so ask yourself, How can I be that person I want to be in this moment in this place that  I am in right now?

Make little changes today that turn your frown upside down!!!! 🙂

Realize  where your contentment comes from, it’s not found in things but in what money can not buy, Your relationship with God, your family and friends.

If you can learn to develop the right mindset, you can be happy now, without changing anything else. You don’t need to wait until you’ve changed everything and made your life perfect before you’re happy, you have everything you need to be happy right now.

What are some things you do on a daily basis to shift your focus from what you don’t have to what you do have right now in your life today?
