Broken Heart

Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around.
~Proverbs 13:12 (The Message)

Have you ever felt like the disappointment that is  described in this verse is happening to you?  Do you feel like your heart just won’t be able to take one more hurt? Sometimes we can feel so heartsick.  Disappointment is crushing and  depressing. But disappointment is also normal at times…for even God’s children.

Pain and disappointment in our lives ends up shaping us. We see this pattern lived out in our life and all through Scripture. Joseph was a slave and a prisoner,  The Israelites were slaves and wanderers. David was harassed and hunted. The apostles were tortured and martyred.  Even today,  many Christians suffer around the world for their beliefs.

God allows those He loves to experience unrelenting disappointment  sometimes because it makes us depend on Him more and more.  He allows it also, because it makes us put our hope in Him as well. We continually hope for Him to provide the “sudden good break”  we need as mentioned in Proverbs 13:12.

I wish I could promise that our disappointment will stop soon, but I can’t. What I can promise is this, our God is the God of the  “suddenly” ….or the “sudden good break”.  No, I’m not saying that the things you wish for will come to pass right now but, I am saying that God WILL  relieve our pain. The when is the question, I do not know that day or His timing.  Perhaps our pain will end like Joseph’s or David’s.  You might get an amazing promotion, or move into the promised land. Perhaps, though, your breakthrough might come  in this life time as your standing on His word or maybe you’ll be immediately transported , from pain to glory.

Psalms 147:3 “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

If we find ourselves amidst troubles and depression, God has the power to heal our broken hearts. He will take those who are crushed, whether it is in body or mind, and he will mend them.

This verse is very straightforward, but it holds some of the most important facts for us as Christians. No matter what we face during this life, our God is there to console us and to heal us.

Scripture never promises that disappointment will end on this side of eternity. It does promise, though, that  as Christ’s followers  one day we will be in His presence and that the temporary suffering of earth will seem like nothing compared to the wonder of Heaven.

I still  stand and believe  our  breakthrough will come on this side of eternity. My trust is still in God that we wont have  to suffer on earth more than we have already.  I  trust more in God’s will and His plan for us all.

2 Corinthians 4:17  Our suffering is light and temporary and is producing for us an eternal glory that is greater than anything we can imagine.

Whatever we are going through NOW, remember that it’s temporary. God will deliver us, if not today…maybe tomorrow…or whenever He has it all set up for us. But, I am sure of one thing, your deliverance is coming.

Has God done something for you that has turned your sorrow into joy and mended your broken heart, I would love to hear it!
