It’s just a delay!

It’s just a delay!

Your flight might be delayed but,  you will still get to your destination.

Have you ever been at the airport in the time that TSA requires you to be there to go through security and get ready for your flight and you find out it is delayed?

My husband flies a lot, I mean ALOT for his job and there are times like today that his flight get’s delayed. It is never any fun sitting in an airport longer than you have to trying to keep yourself occupied until they have the next flight ready to go. In your mind you have already envisioned yourself home at a certain time and you have run a movie in your head of what you will be doing once you arrive at your destination. But then, you think everything is all messed up just because of a delay!

I looked up the word delay, I know it seems elementary but just humor me.

Delay – a situation in which something happens later than it should ,  the amount of time that you must wait for something that is late.

I got to thinking about how many times in our lives that the things we were all prepared for (we had all our ducks in a row) we prayed, spoke the word over ourselves, we studied but still that thing we have been preparing for happens later than we expected because of circumstances beyond our control,  just like a plane delay.

We get out our check list and go over it all again and say I don’t understand I did everything I was supposed to do but it is not happening!

This can be very frustrating and down right disappointing.

We have to understand in life not everything is gonna go just as “WE” planned.

There will be twists and turns, hiccups, bumps in the road that we will have to adjust to without wavering on our final destination.

Just as we have to occupy ourself until the next flight is available we have to learn to occupy our Spirit, mind and body while we wait for the things we have prayed and prepared for.

Have you heard the saying that “Delay does not mean denial” ?

Your flight might be delayed but it in no way means you will not ever get to your destination!

The Bible is filled with examples of how God uses a long process to develop character, especially in leaders.

He took eighty years to prepare Moses, including forty in the wilderness. For 14,600 days Moses kept waiting and wondering, “Is it time yet?” But God kept saying, “Not yet.

Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be

I love this verse and have stood on it many times in my life for many different reasons:

These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! Habakkuk 2:3 (LB)

Today don’t be discouraged, don’t get sidetracked, don’t believe the lies that you will never make it to your destination.

After you have arrived at your final destination and gathered all your luggage  you will  look back you realize it was all God’s perfect timing for you, God always has the best outcome prepared for you as you learn to wait on Him.

Have faith and patience that you will not only arrive at your final destination but you will have an upgrade to first class ( the only way to fly 🙂 ) and get double for your trouble (maybe even a free ticket for your next flight).

Have there been times in you life that you were not happy that you had to take the next flight to your destination?
