Thanksgiving Day, ahhhhh The aroma of roast turkey fills your home, friends and family enjoying each other, football, pies, leftovers and anticipation of the holidays fill our hearts. It all sounds and looks like a Norman Rockwell painting and a lifetime movie but the sad reality is your Thanksgiving might be something completely different.
Some of us might be alone or it might be the first Thanksgiving without a loved one, your finances might be tight, you might have foreclosed on your home, you or a loved one might have gotten bad news concerning their health, their are so many things that we could be facing that could make our perfect picture holiday less than perfect in our eyes. No matter what, we can always be thankful and grateful for something.

In the dictionary Thanksgiving means:

the act of giving thanks, acknowledgment of benefits or favors, especially to God.
an expression of thanks, especially to God.
a public celebration in acknowledgment of divine favor or kindness.
a day set apart for giving thanks to God.

You may not have lived life in the past with a grateful heart,  there might have been times you took things and people for granted and lived the life of nothing ever being enough. You might have focused on what you didn’t have instead of being grateful for what you have.  No matter what’s going on in your life right now that you are less than happy with,  we need to be thankful and cultivate an attitude of gratitude.  Learning to fully appreciate life is a never-ending journey, but it’s well worth the effort.  That’s the great thing about the journey of life, we learn, we grow and we change.  It’s one thing to say your thankful and it’s another to live life filled with gratitude.

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude, Our relationship with God, our family and loved ones, our health, our jobs and the ability to be reading this right now.

Thanksgiving is a day to reflect and appreciate all of our many blessings. Wouldn’t it be great if we could instill some of that Thanksgiving Day spirit into our everyday lives?  We should and we can!  Gratitude is an important key to happiness. To be happy is to be grateful!

Ephesians 5:20 says, Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, ponder and consider the many wonderful blessings you enjoy.  Be grateful for these wonderful benefits.  Realize that these material and spiritual blessings were not given to us because of anything we have done, we did not deserve them but,  God has bestowed them on us simply because of His mercy, and Grace.

Thanksgiving naturally  flows when we look upward and see the hand of God at work in our lives. That is why Thanksgiving is more than turkey, it’s all about the grace that God has given to us. We have all been blessed in some shape or form and we should not compare our blessings with others.  This Thanksgiving let’s not easily forget who we are thankful to. …It is God who gives us all of our blessings.

Remember this as you bow your head to say Grace over your Thanksgiving meal, Grace isn’t a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal, It’s a way to life your life!

I pray God’s richest blessings of love and abundance over your life this Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving.

XO
